Wow, can you believe it. I had not one single post in the month of July. Does that tell you how busy things have been? So what happened in July?
Well, for starters I got rid of my pickup truck early in the month. I traded it in for a Malibu Maxx because I needed a vehicle that was more child friendly. The new car has more power (6 cyclinders instead of my S10’s 4), lots more room, and a nice sunroof. I’m pretty happy with the decision, but I still miss my truck.
Shaun continues to grow, as would be expected with a baby. So I guess that was a silly statement to make. He’s reaching a lot of milestones: he almost has the sitting up thing, probaby just a month away from really getting it. He’s also gotten the ability to grab things and shake them down. And man, can this kid smile; I think his mouth is going to get stuck in that position.
The Radio.Speljamr podcast continues to grow an audience. It’s not huge, but there seems to be around 70 regular listeners now. It seems to be going at a nice slow, but steady pace. I was really happy to get permission to play one of my absolute favorite bands, Lovespirals. That really made my month.
Well, that was about it for July. August looks like it’s going to be an even busier month. Lots of big things going on at work. I’m sure I’ll be able to talk about them later, but for now it’s got to stay at work.
And finally, I’ll be posting some new pictures of Shaun soon. I’ll be sure to post a mention in this blog, so keep watching. I promise I won’t stay away for a whole month again.
Here’s a couple of quick Star Wars funnies:
Samuel L. Jackson gets Jedi on Yoda’s ass
Everybody I’ve seen lately keeps asking when I’m going to get some new pictures of Shaun online. Well, it has been way too busy to do this, but I finally found a moment today. You’ll find the new pictures in the Gallery
Shaun is officially up to 7 lbs. 10 oz. after his doctor’s visit today. Proof that he’s taking in more than he spits up, and man can he spit up.
My new podcast, Radio.Speljamr, is now officially open for business. The show will be about idependent music and will feature plenty of music from Buffalo/Rochester bands. The show will not be genre specific, but will instead try to cover as much different music as possible. If you are an independent musician and would like to find out how to get your music played on this and other podcasts, please email me at radiospeljamr@gmail.com.
Radio.Speljamr Vol.1, No.1 is now online.
The past week has been exhausting. Shaun parties all night when mom and dad are trying to sleep. And to top it off my mom was in the hospital all week from complications with her chemo therapy. She was going through chemo to treat her recently diagnosed Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She’s home now recovering. Hopefully this won’t happen every time she gets a chemo treatment. It scares the crap out of me.
On a good note, Shaun is doing very well and is up to 6lbs 6oz., and 19″ long, as of last Friday.

This little guy is the Hicup King. They just keep going and going and going……………..
Yes, this blog has officially become the all Shaun network……
I have finally finished uploading some of Shaun’s pictures. They can be found at: http://gallery.speljamr.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=babypics
Oh yeah, Shaun now has his own official email address - shaun.francis.finucane@speljamr.com. Feel free to drop him a line and tell him how cute he is.
Shaun continues to do well. However, because of his size he is having some problems breast feeding. We have had to spend some time with a lactation consultant and it seems to be helping. For the time being though he will be getting a mix of breast milk and formula. The breast feeding is important because he gets all of mom’s anti-bodies, giving his immune system a big boost. But alas, Shaun continues to be only a recreational breast feeder.
Both Grandmas and Grandpas stopped in to see Shaun yesterday. Grandma and Grandpa Finucane setup Shaun’s new bouncy chair. It was quite the comedy act to see them trying to follow the usual bad instruction book. Grandma and Grandpa probably thought they were done with this long ago. lol.
The bouncy chair and the car seat seem to be the best place to sleep according to Shaun. He likes his cradle, but prefers to be sitting up a little to sleep, and the cradle doesn’t do that. He slept for hours yesterday when we took mom to the doctors.
Well, time to catch a few winks. Shaun will probably be awake soon. The adventure continues……..
