Got a rather amusing birthday card from my wife. It said:
“Birthdays can be torture……
Especially when the present is somewhere in the US postal system and Amazon can’t tell me when it’s coming!!!”
Considering the gift, I am feeling tortured……

They say they are doing it to improve order accuracy, but how accurate will my order be if the guy taking it might be in Bangladesh?
Time to do a little dance, or a jig, or something happy. My favorite linux distro is coming out with a new version. Guess I’m going to have to find some way to scrape together $60 for the upgrade.
When I first read this article I was thinking it was some kind of joke, but it’s not. The IDF really does look down on people that play Dungeons & Dragons. They think that every single person who plays the game is “detached from reality.” Well, I’ve never felt detached from reality and I ‘ve played the game many times, especially when I was younger. Hell if you want to see detached from reality just look at the ultra right-wing religious elite here in the United States.
This article was first posted yesterday and it was a laugh to see the pictures used. All of the pictures were of medieval reenactors. Last time I played the game it was around a table with a bunch of friends and lots of popcorn, potato chips, Pepsi, paper, dice, and pencils. NOBODY was dressed up like a knight or a wizard. Matter of fact I probably had a Rush concert t-shirt on.
As of today two of the pictures have been changed to something more appropriate to the game, but still no pics of gamers around a table. Maybe the author of the article is the one who is “detached from reality.”
The fact that the IDF really believes this crap is laughable.
Been some time since I stopped by here. Been busy. Last Thursday and Friday I was out of town, gone to Hudson, NY. It was a business trip for work; I went there to document an intranet system for a rather large client. The trip wasn’t bad, just long: approximately 6 hours. It’s a lonely drive, but at least I got to crank the tunes as loud as I wanted! The hotel I stayed in was really nice. It had free broadband access, just plug into the wall. And it had a fantastic continental breakfast. We’re not just talking a donut and your milk, we’re talking the make your own waffle kind of breakfast. Yummy! Oh, and I still got my milk. And O.J.
Work has me swamped. To much work and not enough people….
Karlyn and I are getting ever closer to her due date. Only a little over a month and there will be a new member of the family. It’s exciting and scary all at the same time, though excitement seems to win out over scary every time.
