So I joined the throngs of millions this weekend who saw “The Passion of the Christ” and my biggest comment is: What movie did the critics see? Because it wasn’t the same one I saw!
The biggest complaint I kept hearing on the news was that the film was too violent. Well, it is violent, but I didn’t think it was more violent than the real events would have been. And I have seen much worse in other movies. I saw just as much violence in Lord of the Rings, but I don’t here anyone complaining about that. Maybe the critics and people that are complaining haven’t seen many recent movies?
Second complaint in the news - too much anti-semitism. I really don’t get this. This movie will not make me run around hating Jewish people. If you really pay attention to the details of what is going on it is very clear that the conflict is Jews against Jews. Some of the church leaders clearly don’t believe that Christ should be punished.
My final opinion: this is a very well done movie that can be appreciated by all. The only people who should not see this movie are young children. It is a little too rough for them.
